I found a program called "bitmaps & waves" today, and thought i'd take it for a spin, basically, what it does is convert any bitmap image into a waveform that you can hear. A captcha code that i pressed play on and was malfunctioning, then managed to download it and time warp it a bit in ableton 8. Accidental recorded "meow" from myself at the very end on my computer speakers. 16 bit.

It's a sound i got from a lost recovered wav file. It was a 24-bit file but i have imported it as a 16-bit one, the ruseulting sound is an interenstin non-uniform noise with a modulation to it. Could be a neat sound for broken electronics.

Crap laptop with shity fan.

Electro-magnetic interference from a desktop computer, and an at&t; cordless phone handset cl82301 when held near the internal ferrite antenna on the back right of a 13-year-old boombox listening to the am broadcast band. Recorded 2 years ago so i forget where i was listening. Recorded with goldwave from line-in. You hear emi from the computer at first, then i bring the phone on standby near the radio and you hear a series of nearly pure tones. The phone comes on and you hear a distorted dial tone. I move the phone away from the radio for a few seconds and you hear the computer again, then i bring the phone near and you hear a distorted busy signal. I disconnect and the phone continues sending to the base for a few seconds so you just hear a hum, then the idle tones are heard, then the computer noise as i remove the phone.

This is one of the sounds i use for the hum of droids in bloody, bold, irresolute. It can be used for robots, background noise, faulty computers, etc.

Just some random noise from my glitched speak and maths toy that i made. I created a delay patch using reaktor. Recorded from the headphone socket directly into the live drive on my computer.

Simple. 8-second fading beep. 500hz square wave. Took 2 seconds in audacity. Couldn't find any good beeps for a countdown so i made one.

Created by cranking a filter to max resonance, adding distortion, then slowly sweeping the frequency control on a bit crusher.

Here's a low volume, low frequency noise recorded during an acoustic survey of a condominium to identify a sleep-disturbing noise. It is primarily a combination of 13, 18 and 23 hz (5 hz steps). Not audible on computer speakers, it should be listened to on closed back headphones or very good quality sound system.
